Highly Budget-Friendly Acne Treatment
If you ever happen to walk into a Daiso store in Korea and see this, don’t hesitate to grab it. I’ve yet to find a spot calming gel that’s worth more than it costs, and this one nailed it.
PROS
- Excellent value for money
- Convenient and lightweight formula
- Reduces swelling in deep, cystic pimples
- Helps prevent early breakouts from worsening
- Speeds healing after extracting pimples
CONS
- Minimal impact on whiteheads and congestion
- Very limited availability
Where to Buy
The Daiso version is only available in Korea. You can get this version abroad via a proxy shopping service, or alternatively, get the CNP standard version on Amazon.
The CNP bye od-td Spot Calming Gel isn’t a miracle cure, but it quietly achieves what many spot treatments fail to do: it calms inflamed, red, or painful pimples without causing irritation. Over time, it has become one of my reliable go-to products for mild to moderate acne. It’s gentle, affordable, and delivers steady results when used patiently, though it’s less effective on whiteheads or when quick results are needed.

Introduction
CNP bye od-td was co-developed through a nine-month collaboration between CNP Derma Cosmetics Lab (LG Household & Health Care) and 14 Naver Beauty Influencers who personally dealt with acne-prone skin. Instead of chasing harsh actives or fleeting trends, they focused on creating a formula that genuinely supports sensitive, troubled skin.
It’s designed for nighttime use but can also be applied during the day under sunscreen. The key feature of this formula is CNP’s exclusive Herb-Vinegar Tincture™, which blends five herbs (chamomile, calendula, centella, basil, and mallow) infused in apple cider vinegar. This traditional tincture extraction method preserves the herbs’ soothing properties, while the addition of vinegar was inspired by influencer feedback on its acne-calming effects.
The formula is free of artificial fragrances, mineral oil, parabens, alcohol, and silicone, making it well-suited for sensitive skin.

Key Ingredients and What They Do
Panthenol (20,000 ppm): Intensely soothes and hydrates irritated skin. This is crucial for acne care because many spot treatments dry out the skin. Panthenol helps maintain comfort and moisture balance.
Retinal & LHA: Work together to gently exfoliate and encourage faster skin cell turnover. Retinal is a mild, effective form of vitamin A that refines skin texture without the harshness of prescription retinoids, while LHA (lipohydroxy acid) unclogs pores and smooths skin gradually.
Herb-Vinegar Tincture™: A calming combination of five herbs infused in apple cider vinegar. Each herb was selected after collecting real feedback and running lab tests, ensuring it contributes to reducing redness and inflammation.

How It Feels and Absorbs
This lightweight gel has a yellow tint, much like other retinal-based products. The gel spreads easily and absorbs well. It’s nearly unscented, though a faint citrus note can be detected.
Some users mentioned that it feels cooling upon application, but I barely noticed it, probably because I’m used to stronger cooling products. Even with its yellow tint, it absorbs completely without leaving residue on the skin, though it can stain light-colored fabrics if not fully absorbed.
For daytime use, a thin layer works best after your usual skincare, followed by sunscreen. At night, apply a thicker layer as the final step of your routine for inflamed or cystic pimples, and a lighter layer for smaller spots. If the area has been extracted, start with a healing ointment, then move on to this gel once the wound closes. When it no longer stings, that’s usually my sign that the wound has closed. After it’s fully healed, it might leave a blemish depending on the acne type, so that’s the time to switch to a skincare product for dark spots.
Effects: 3-Day Test on Pus-Filled Pimple
I’ve gone through about six tubes of this gel and use it regularly as a spot treatment. To document how well it really works, I tested it on a small pus-filled pimple over three days, applying only the gel and avoiding any extraction.

- Day 1: The pimple was visible but not painful. I applied a small amount before bed.
- Day 2: The pus had disappeared naturally overnight, leaving a small indentation.
- Day 3: The skin healed smoothly with minimal flaking or scarring.
During the three-day photo review, it was so tempting to squeeze, but I held back to show how the skin heals on its own with just the gel. I’ve kept using it ever since and probably will until I find something better, so you’ll likely see it again in future acne reviews.
What to Expect
The CNP bye od-td Spot Calming Gel performs exceptionally well on inflamed or cystic acne. It reduces redness, swelling, and tenderness, helping painful spots feel calmer and look less noticeable. For pimples with developing pus, it helps bring it to the surface more efficiently, making the extraction process cleaner and reducing the risk of scars. It’s also great for post-extraction care, helping the skin recover faster.
This gel isn’t suited for whiteheads or closed comedones and won’t do much for general congestion. It also requires consistency; visible improvements usually appear after three to seven days, depending on the acne type. It worked well for my oily, acne-prone skin, but I’m not sure how it performs on acne caused by dry skin.
Results typically appear within three days, but deeper or cystic acne may take closer to a week. You’ll notice gradual improvement as inflammation subsides and the skin feels more balanced. For urgent situations, dermatologists in Korea often offer cortisone injections to reduce swelling quickly, though these can leave temporary indentations. In the long run, consistent care is always more effective than short-term fixes.
Final Thoughts
The CNP bye od-td Spot Calming Gel provides gentle, consistent care for inflamed acne and really does more than its price suggests. It won’t transform your skin instantly, but it eases redness, reduces irritation, and helps the skin heal comfortably.
In my honest opinion, the price plays a huge role in why I keep buying it. If it were sold at the regular CNP mall price of around 16,000 KRW, I’d probably think twice before repurchasing. But at just 5,000 KRW, it’s a total steal, so I always grab one whenever I find it. At the beginning of the year, it was often out of stock on the Daiso online store, but these days, it seems easier to get. The funny thing is, the Daiso near me doesn’t even display it on the shelves because people clear them out so quickly, so I always have to ask the staff if they have one in stock behind the counter.
All in all, this gel has become one of those dependable, fuss-free products that I trust to calm my skin whenever a breakout flares up.
